An extensive retrospective of the work of Daniel Spoerri over several decades will show at the Centro per l’arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci from 3 February to 29 April 2007.
Daniel Spoerri is considered one of the main protagonists of the international art scene (Nouveau Réalisme, Eat Art, Fluxus movement).
The show, contains 150 works from important European museums, from galleries and private collections.
In a detailed examination of the development of Spoerris work from his debut in 1960 to the latest creations from 2006, the show documents his various stages and principal themes: the snare pictures; the Eat Art works, the results of performances in Restaurant and banquets; the disillusion and the multiplication of vision; magic, mystery and death; the private room; anthropology, anatomy and genetics; the worktops and the minced bodies; the flea market; the more recent fetiches.
The exhibition concludes with a room dedicated to artists of the Giardino di Daniel Spoerri (Eva Aeppli, Roland Topor etc).
The exhibition is accompanied by an exhaustive catalogue edited by Marco Bazzini and Stefano Pezzato with essays by the curators, an ample anthology of texts by the artist translated into Italian for the first time, up to date critical notes, reproductions of all the works in the show and archive images.
Anthological exhibition promoted by the Regione Toscana TRA ART regional network for contemporary art in collaboration with the Foundation Il Giardino di Daniel Spoerri. Hic Terminus Haeret, Seggiano (Grosseto)
