Städelschule is seeking a full-time Professor for Architecture / Fine Arts, Cohabitation (d/f/m), starting in the summer semester of 2022.
In accordance with §§ 61 and 62 HHG (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz the Städelschule is seeking a professor, individual or collective team, for the study of architecture with a focus on Cohabitation. This W2 (analogous to the German/Hessian “W-Besoldung” and as an employment relationship) professorship is offered for a period of three years (possibly extensional) starting as soon as possible, the latest April 1, 2022.
The Städelschule seeks applicants with innovative approaches to building environments, considers the irreversible impact on the planet, and has an ambitious research agenda, and a serious commitment to teaching students. A demonstrated teaching experience engaging with unconventional ideas of space and thinking architecture in society, as well as questions of equity and social justice.
Conditions of employment:
–An active rigorous artistic architecture practice
–A university PhD or college MA degree in fine arts or architecture appropriate to the employment
–An outstanding artistic architecture qualification and working practice in the field of fine arts or architecture with innovative implementation of alternative models
–Long-term thinking with reference to political discourse and discursive framework conditions in the public sphere
–In the sense of an interdisciplinary concept of artistic architecture, the contact point to diverse fields of knowledge and technology is desired
–Proof of international professional activity as well as leadership and vision for the pedagogy for cohabitation as a new innovative field of higher research and practice
–Ability to develop and access the field of artistic architecture with a vast and diverse network and affiliations
–Proof of pedagogical and didactic aptitude and teaching experience in the tertiary sector as well as a written statement (max. 5 pages) on the presentation of your own teaching philosophy
–Willingness as well as ability to interact with the art history, theory, philosophy and curatorial studies professors, instructors, team of the administration and to participate in committees
–Excellent knowledge of English and/or German and the willingness to learn the other language
–Gender competence in the sense of identifying relevant gender aspects and dealing with them in a manner directed towards gender equality
–Competence regarding discrimination
The teaching commitment includes individual artistic lessons in the central subject “Cohabitation” in the field of artistic architecture/fine arts, as stipulated in § 4 Lehrverpflichtungssatzung of Städelschule.
