Explore, experiment, create and develop your art practice in a supportive, collegiate and nurturing environment with Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design’s (DJCAD) latest Masters in Fine Art.

Launching September 2021, this highly interdisciplinary Masters allows you to develop your art practice across traditionally medium-defined boundaries, with the opportunity to explore a variety of disciplines. This course embraces all forms of art practices including: media-based sculpture, painting, photography, drawing, printmaking, audio and video, performance, installation, and (durational) work in the public domain.

Through a stimulating programme of modules, you will build and develop practical making and research skills to explore current attitudes and phenomena in the context of contemporary art practice. And through lively debates, both in physical and digital communities, you’ll strengthen your ability to self‐evaluate through reflective practice and cumulative progression.

You will build towards a professional skill set that will be transferable within a significant number of roles and professional contexts, including: supporting local or international communities through art and design; working as an arts organiser or as a practicing artist to arrange or curate events; working within galleries, museums and the tourism or heritage sectors; within the creative industries as designers or artists.

Another highly disciplinary Masters’ is the MFA Art and Humanities course, which combines studio art with Masters level modules in humanities, such as Philosophy, English and Film Studies. Here you’re encouraged to work across a wide variety of media, making use of the broad range of workshops onsite, such as printmaking, bronze-casting or the digital media lab. This course allows you to tailor your study and submit a major written dissertation or take part in an exhibition of creative work as your final project.
