The third edition of JINGART will return to the Beijing Exhibition Center from June 10 to June 13. 43 exhibitors from 11 countries and 24 cities are selected from around the world, bringing collectors and art enthusiasts an art fest with works of all categories and from different eras. 25 galleries will participate for the first time.
Thematic presentations of modern and contemporary art
Beyond time, art has no boundaries.
David Zwirner will showcase works by the 20th-century influential Italian artist Giorgio Morandi, and contemporary painting masters Luc Tuymans and Michaël Borremans. Lisson Gallery will bring to the audience prominent works by Anish Kapoor, Tatsuo Miyajima, Rodney Graham, and Joanna Pousette-Dart. Galleria Continua will present works by the world’s leading artists, such as Anish Kapoor, Antony Gormley and Michelangelo Pistoletto.
Lehmann Maupin, in their first appearance at 2021 JINGART, will present recent works by Lari Pittman, Mandy El-Sayegh, and Gilbert & George. Almine Rech, also a first-time participant, will feature Matthias Bitzer, Li Qing and graffiti artist Kenny Scharf. Whitestone Gallery will present artwork by Miwa Komatsu, Etsu Egami and Chinese artist Chen Yingjie. Line Gallery will bring a selection of brand-new paintings by Yin Chaoyang, Li Jin and Li Jikai. The new NFT artwork by the artist duo Hao Jingfang & Wang Lingjie brought by KENNAXU’s will greet viewers at the fair.
Capsule Shanghai will present a group exhibition by Cai Zebin, Ivy Haldeman, Chen Litong and Sarah Faux. Zhengguantang Oriental Arts will curate a special presentation DIVINITY OF WHITE - A Brief History of White Porcelain: 24 pieces of Chinese white porcelain dated from 2,500 BC to 2000 AD will be on display.
2021 JINGART also features traditional and contemporary Chinese ink art. Hive Center for Contemporary Art will feature abstract ink paintings by Liang Quan, a key figure in Chinese painting history. Asia Art Center will present paintings by Shen Qin and Chen Qi, and an interactive video and sound installation by Ling Juntin, who articulates Chinese culture and aesthetics with new media.
Design and decorative arts
2021 JINGART also includes designs and fine jewelries. Gallery All will bring sculptures and paintings by Tan Zhipeng, James Jean, Trent Jansen, Fernando and Humberto Campana and Maarten Baas. Barry Friedman Ltd. will present antique furniture and decoration artworks from 18th to 19th centuries. Objective will feature American artist Vincent Pocsik, whose work is both sculptural and functional, balancing between beautiful and grotesque.
Jiangjiaban will present Buddhist art that integrates elements from Han Dynasty statues with contemporary design. In addition, jewelry brand FENG. J HAUTE JOAILLERIE will present eight pieces of painting-liked-lacquer on precious metals.
Special projects
2021 JINGART has teamed up with a number of artists and partners for a few collaborated projects, such as Qiu Zhijie’s artwork that combines traditional ceramic with modern communication methods. Artist Chen Baoyang will use augmented reality to bring the audience the wormhole of Nuwa (mother goddess of Chinese mythology), the gene editing of Dayu (who subdues the great flood) and so on. ART021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair and NET-A-PORTER join hands to create Incredible Female Artist Award. Ten nominated artists will present a group exhibition What Do We Talk About When We Talk About Female Artists? UCCA store will collaborate with artist Yan Lei to present the exhibition Soft Landing.
