Edited by Fanny Hauser and Viktor Neumann
Wicked Little Town brings together contributions by more than 50 artists and critical thinkers, exploring transnational and trans-temporal traditions and imaginations of resistance, unruliness, and non-compliance. Highlighting notions of companionship, alliances, and bonds, this publication gives voice to critiques of normativity and initiates dialogues around the interdependence between forms of oppression and collective paths of emancipation, strives for non-violent grammars and vocabularies, and pays tribute to an array of artists, scholars, and activists excluded from predominant historical or contemporary narratives. Wicked Little Town comprises essays and short stories, poems and letters, reprints and translations of historical documents, transcripts of lecture performances, video works, and a theater play, conversations between artists, scholars, and curators as well as numerous visual works conceived and redesigned for this anthology.
This publication expands and concludes the joint curatorial fellowship of the Gebert Stiftung für Kultur in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland, awarded to Fanny Hauser and Viktor Neumann between the period of autumn 2019 and spring 2021.
