Hyundai Motor Group seeks Asia’s emerging media artists
January 18–March 19, 2021
Hyundai Motor Group presents the 4th VH Award seeking Asian artists engaged with the context of Asia and its future through their creative ways.
The five shortlisted artists have opportunities to participate in online residency programs, global exhibitions and receive grants for production.
The application is open to Asian media artists through the official website: www.vhaward.com until March 19, 2021.
The VH AWARD was created in 2016 with the goal of discovering and cultivating promising media artists in Korea.
Celebrating its 4th edition, the VH AWARD has been extended to all Asian artists engaged with the context of Asia and its future and is now taking the leap forward to become Asia’s leading award for media artists. It supports numerous global young and talented media artists and becomes the launching point to achieve their artistic goals internationally.
A group of international jurors including renowned curators and directors such as Sook-Kyung Lee (Senior Curator, International Art (Hyundai Tate Research Centre: Transnational) Tate Modern), Christopher Phillips (Independent Curator & Critic), Roderick Schrock (Curator, Executive Director of Eyebeam), Aaron Seeto (Director, Museum MACAN), June Yap (Director, Curatorial, Collections and programmes, Singapore Art Museum), will participate to support Asian artists.
The five shortlisted artists will receive a grant of USD 25,000 each for the production of their selected artwork. In addition, through the partnership with Eyebeam, the prominent not-for-profit art and technology center based in New York City, the selected artists will be invited to participate in the various online residency programs led by networked artists and curators of Eyebeam.
The final one Grand Prix will be announced during an award ceremony held in October 2021 with the grant of an additional USD 25,000 and the awarded works will be exhibited at various global platforms.
The call for entries will be closed at midnight on March 19, 2021 (KST). Applicants must submit the required materials via online only through the official website: www.vhaward.com.
