January 1–February 28, 2021
The Application call 2021 for projects in the field of the Performing Arts is open until February 28, 2021.
The pandemic continues to deeply affect the world in many ways. As cultural institutions and artistic exchanges have been hit particularly hard by the global crisis, today, more than ever, the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the FACE Foundation are proud to encourage, promote and support artistic performances and creations through the following grant programs:
FACE Contemporary Theater
FACE Contemporary Theater fosters innovative artistic collaborations and coproductions in theater, contemporary circus as well as puppetry, and contributes to a dynamic intercultural dialogue between France and the United States. It aims to encourage projects that push aesthetic boundaries and reflect the cultural and artistic diversity seen in theater today.
FUSED
FUSED: French U.S. Exchange in Dance fosters dialogue, strengthens professional relationships, and sparks creative artistry through cultural exchanges by introducing choreographers and performers whose works has never or rarely been seen in the partner country.
For its 2021 applications call, FACE Contemporary Theater and FUSED have adjusted their criteria to better answer the needs of artistic cooperation between France and the United States in today’s world by encouraging the development of theater and dance projects using digital innovation and exploring public spaces through two types of grant:
-Residency Grants awarded to projects focusing on residencies of playwrights and/or directors (FACE Contemporary Theater) and choreographers and performers (FUSED).
-Presentation & Touring Grants awarded to organizations committed to present a project by an artist or ensemble (both programs).

Important: Since 2017, both programs have expanded beyond artists based in France and the United States to include projects by artists from Africa, the Caribbean, and the Middle East performing in the United States, as long as their work is co-produced by French cultural institutions.
The application deadline is February 28, 2021. All applications should be submitted through the FACE Foundation website.
American and French organisations can apply for funding for projects taking place between June 1, 2021 and August 31, 2022.
