The School for the Contemporary Arts (SCA) at Simon Fraser University invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level in Contemporary Dance and Film and a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Contemporary Arts.

Assistant Professor of Contemporary Dance Forms within Afro-Diasporic, Indigenous or Asian Contexts
We invite applications with an established artistic practice and expertise based within Afro-Diasporic, Indigenous or Asian dance forms. These can include but are not limited to Hip Hop, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Latinx, Afro-Brazilian, Coast Salish, Métis, Inuit, Asian and South-East Asian techniques. Our preference will be for someone with a deep understanding of the movement forms that emerge from these cultures, the languages, traditions and practices that support them, and an ability to rearticulate these within a contemporary interdisciplinary context. A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and a background in establishing and maintaining trusting relationships with these communities, their organizations and institutions nationally and internationally is required. An interest in new technologies in teaching and research will be a bonus.

Assistant Professor of Film
We seek a collaborative filmmaker or filmmaker/scholar working in non-fiction, narrative, experimental, animation, expanded and/or hybrid cinema with a substantial record of creative distinction or promise of exceptional creative output in an international context. We especially encourage applications from film artists interested in collaborating in the development of pedagogies appropriate to the plurality of cinema arts that exist today as we work to transform our curriculum in the coming years.

Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Indigenous Contemporary Arts
This CRC appointment opportunity is intended for emerging artists or artist/scholars in Indigenous Contemporary Arts, at the rank of assistant or associate professor. We are seeking an emerging artist or artist/scholar with an art practice and/or scholarly record in performance (theatre, dance, interdisciplinary performance), music/sound (creative music practice), film/video, or visual art. An interdisciplinary approach to research and practice is encouraged. Appointment to a continuing faculty position in the School for the Contemporary Arts requires an MFA or PhD completed by the time of appointment in a field or discipline of demonstrated relevance.
