Series of artist video portraits
In 2020, the Office for Visual Arts of the French Institute of Germany is launching a video series titled Point de vue (Point of View). Conceived to shed light on the French art scene in Germany, Point de vue presents a series of short video portraits of select French visual artists and creators who have made Germany their home.
For 2020, curator Tristan Deschamps (b. 1992 in Beuvry, lives and works in Berlin) was entrusted with selecting the artists and creators featured in the first edition:
Kévin Blinderman / Claude Eigan / Nadira Husain / Daniela Macé-Rossiter / Lily Matras / Adrien Missika / Aude Pariset / Mathias Schech.
The roughly five-to-six-minute-long videos provide an overview of each artist’s recent production, studio insights or current exhibitions. For artists, the video portrait is an opportunity to present their work and talk about their professional experiences in their adopted country.
Point de vue is a new series that aims to offer a broad public audience an original portrait of French creation as seen through the lens of European mobility. Beyond presenting the work of the artists, the video series also serves as a resource of information for artists and creators who are interested in settling abroad and in Germany in particular.
First episodes of the series Point de vue
The eight episodes of the series will be broadcast until mid-January 2021.
Point de vue is part of the Jeunes Commissaires program series of the Office for Visual Arts of the French Institute of Germany, initiated in cooperation with the French Ministry of Culture and the Franco-German Youth Office.
