November 6, 2020
The second volume of the collection of interviews with winners of the AWARE Outstanding Merit Prize will be available in bookstores in English and French from November 6, 2020, onwards. This volume is dedicated to Jacqueline de Jong, a major Dutch artist and 2019 winner.
The interview was conducted by Gallien Déjean, art critic and independent curator, as well as Jacqueline de Jong’s commissioner for the 2019 AWARE Outstanding Merit Prize.
The publication received the kind support of the French Ministry of Culture, the Région Île-de-France and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The collection of interviews
The collection of interviews is published in partnership with Manuella Éditions, for all the winners of AWARE Outstanding Merit Prize since its creation in 2017, in order to give more visibility to women artists, to show recognition for their exceptional careers and to make their voices heard.
The next volume of the collection will be launched in 2021 and will be devoted to Judit Reigl (2017 winner).
AWARE Prizes for Women Artists
The 5th edition of the AWARE Prizes for Women Artists, organised by the non-profit organisation AWARE: Archives of Women Artists, Research and Exhibitions, will be held in the spring of 2021 with the support of the French Ministry of Culture and the CHANEL Fund for Women in the Arts and Culture.
The AWARE Prize rewards an emerging artist whose career has begun in the past 10 years and the Outstanding Merit Prize rewards an artist for her lifetime achievement.
