CalArts’ MFA Creative Writing Program, a two-year master’s degree dedicated to fostering the experimental impulse, is seeking applicants for Fall 2021. Designed for writers and artists who want to push beyond traditional boundaries and discover new modes of expression through language, this non-tracking program allows its students total freedom to study across genre and form.
Established in 1994 by cultural critic Dick Hebdige and poet / theorist Jon Wagner, CalArts’ MFA Creative Writing Program has been a bastion of unapologetically adventurous writing since its inception. Our incredible faculty, world class writers in residence, and cutting-edge literary magazine, SubLevel, afford our students the opportunity to work and study with some of the most exciting writers publishing today, while postgraduate professional development opportunities such as teaching fellowships, and artist residencies, gird our graduates for whatever comes next. As our accomplished alumnx demonstrate, CalArts’ MFA Creative Writing Program offers an unparalleled environment for writers who risk.
Substantial institute scholarships, including two full-tuition fellowships, and teaching opportunities are available to qualified applicants.
