#UNFINISHED20 will take place between September 27 and October 4, 2020.
Held under the patronage of the European Parliament, UNFINISHED is a festival that mixes all fields, all ages, all social and geographical backgrounds, and all forms of exchange. The goal of this model is to encourage non-stop learning (as the name says… unfinished!) and encourage people to more simply appreciate the true value of each other in their respective lives.
Reinventing the way we gather, #UNFINISHED20 is creating a completely new online ecosystem for real connections, ideas, and emotions. With bites of content spread throughout weekdays and storms of it during the weekend, UNFINISHED is building a highly adaptable experience, designed to bring meaning to participants’ daily lives over an entire week.
Experience designer Ida Benedetto, chief data scientist at The New York Times Chris Wiggins, change expert entrepreneur Ariane de Bonvoisin, Love & Magic Company co-founder Oshoke Pamela Abalu, Dr. & former UN assistant secretary Cristiana Pașca Palmer, Euronews editor-in-chief Peter Barabas & journalist Yasir Khan, Dr. & imam Ludovic-Mohamed Zahed, the musician byron, artist & cyborg activist Moon Ribas, artist, Dr. & writer Jason Hoelscher, musician & edutainer Jurgis Didžiulis, foresight strategist Lydia Caldana, Yogilates founder Carlos L’Abbate, violoncellist Tavi Lup, Mesa Company & their founder Barbara Soalheiro, wine & spirits expert Marinela Ardelean, and musician & ecologist Zoli Tóth are also joining the festival line-up amongst many others. Conversations will be moderated by New York Times author & scribner Patricia Cohen, Live Nation head of brand strategy Ian Daly, future strategist Diana Stafie, and experience designer & Love is in the Cloud founder Isabella Nardini.
Don’t Take Them for Granted, a public project from the UNFINISHED community, will also be part of this year’s experience. Shaped as a collective call to recognize the invisible labor of this pandemic’s frontline workers and, most specifically, the Romanian healthcare staff, the project was created by artists Cristian Movilă (1983, Bucharest) and Capucine Gros (1989, Zürich) after documenting the emergency wards and COVID-19 sections of Bucharest’s main public hospitals.
The project will be included in #UNFINISHED20’s online exhibition and also take the form of a large-scale photo, video, and sound installation, featuring a voice-over by actor Benedict Cumberbatch (1976, London) and two additional short films, created during the pandemic, by artist, photographer, and filmmaker Alfredo Jaar (1956, Santiago).
This installation will open to the public on September 20, 2020 as an open-air experience in Piața George Enescu, in Bucharest.
