Interface Cultures at the University of Art and Design in Linz, Austria provides an internationally oriented master and research program in Interactive Digital Arts, led by Christa Sommerer & Laurent Mignonneau.
Acting as creative artists and researchers, students learn how to advance the state of the art of current interface technologies and applications. Through interdisciplinary research and team work, they also develop new aspects of interface design including its cultural and social applications. The themes elaborated under the Master’s programme in relation to interactive technologies include Interactive Environments, Interactive Art, Ubiquitous Computing, game design, VR and MR environments, Sound Art, Media Art, Web-Art, Software Art, HCI research and interaction design.
The Interface Cultures program has a close partnership with Ars Electronica and students projects are featured at the Ars Electronica Festival on a yearly basis.

Calls for applications 2020
If you are interested in applying for the Interface Cultures master program, we two entrance interview slots for the study year 2020/21:
The first one is now open until June 19, 2020. Entrance interview will take place on July 1, 2020, over web conferencing software.
The second call will be open in late summer, between the August 1 and September 1, 2020. Entrance interview will take place on September 14, 2020, over web conferencing software.
Study requirements
To study at Interface Cultures you need a valid bachelor (or equivalent) degree to qualify for the admission to this master program. For EU-citizens the program is generally free of charge, non-EU-citizens currently have to pay a fee of 726,72 EUR per semester. Students can apply to university fee reduction funds.
Language skills
German skills are not required to join the program. The master program is fully held in English language; our faculty also can support German, French, Spanish and Italian speaking students.
Materials needed for the interview
For the online registration you will have to provide a copy of your degree, along with a motivation letter, your CV and a portfolio of your works.
