Glasgow International (Festival of Visual Art) will return for its sixth edition in April 2014, under the guidance of new Director Sarah McCrory. The festival will continue to showcase Glasgow as a unique major centre for the production and display of contemporary visual art. Taking place in various venues and locations across the city, including Glasgow’s major art spaces and cultural institutions, the Festival will be comprised of an ambitious programme which includes exhibitions, events, talks, performances and projects by international and Glasgow-based artists. Further details on the programme including artist highlights and details of new works to be commissioned will be announced in October 2014.
Glasgow International is also delighted to present a new visual identity for its sixth edition, which will be accompanied by a new website to be launched this year.
Bringing a wealth of experience, Sarah McCrory has joined Glasgow International as Director for 2014–2016. McCrory joins Glasgow International after spending three years as curator of Frieze Foundation, a non-profit organisation responsible for the curated programme of Frieze Art Fair including Frieze Projects and Film. In 2012 she was instrumental in the inception of Frieze Projects East, which included the production of six new public art projects situated throughout the Olympic host boroughs of East London as part of the London 2012 Olympic Festival.
