The NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore (NTU CCA Singapore), a research centre of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is looking for a Curator, Exhibitions and a Curator, Residencies.
Background
NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore opened in October 2013, is a national research centre of Nanyang Technological University developed with support from the Economic Development Board, Singapore. Located in Gillman Barracks alongside a cluster of international galleries, NTU CCA Singapore led by Founding Director, Professor Ute Meta Bauer takes a holistic approach towards art and culture, intertwining its three platforms: exhibitions, residencies, research & education.
NTU CCA Singapore positions itself as a centre for critical discourse and experimental practices for Singapore, the region and beyond. It aims to play an active role within the local art scene, and contribute to the development of regional and international art infrastructures.
Curator, Exhibitions
As part of the curatorial team of the centre, the Curator, Exhibitions will manage the centre’s exhibitions and work closely with international artists with the Founding Director and the team. The curator implements the conceptual ambition of an exhibition in its day-to-day requirements.
Responsibilities
–Contribute to the research, development and presentation of new exhibitions and projects that interpret the responses of artists, to developments in contemporary culture that respond to the global flow of information, emerging discourses, new artists, new geographies, new media and changing contexts that underpin developments in contemporary art
–Develop all texts related to the exhibition ranging from essays to brochures and wall texts
–Collaborate with the Founding Director and other staff in the creation of interpretative materials, publicity materials and public programmes for a variety of audiences
–Manage international and travelling projects; exhibition and partnership proposals and exhibition agreements
–Oversee day-to-day implementation of the exhibition plan
Requirements
–Minimum graduate degree in Curating, Museum Studies, Art History, Art Education, Arts Administration/Production, Cultural Studies, Humanities or related field
–Minimum 3 years of relevant curatorial experience
–Excellent organisational, writing, editing, verbal, interpersonal, communications, administrative, and budget management skills and ability to deliver complex art projects and events
–Excellent knowledge of contemporary art and the international art world
–Excellent people management skills, cultural sensitivity and conflict resolution
–Working experience in programming for outreach/education addressing diverse audiences
–Experience working in diverse cultures
–Able to work independently, as a team and within a fast-paced environment
–Proficient in Microsoft Office, Dropbox, Wordpress, Dreamweaver, Adobe Creative Suite

Curator, Residencies
As part of the curatorial team, the Curator, Residencies will manage the international residency programme and work closely with international artists, curators and art writers, foster research by artists, curators and writers linking to the centre’s key objective of a research culture.
Responsibilities
–Work with the curatorial team and key stakeholders to create a context-responsive and discursive residency programme hosting artists, curators and writers as an integral part of NTU CCA Singapore’s curatorial and research mandate, and to communicate artistic research to a wider audience through a range of public programmes
–Conceptualise, plan and execute public programmes alongside the Curator, Outreach and Education that are underpinned by a rigorous understanding of the work of international contemporary artists introducing the diversity of contemporary art research to a variety of publics
–Work closely with the resident artists, curators and writers to develop innovative methodologies for new ideas and research; ensuring a range of practices is represented such as gender balance and geographical reach
–Organise and implement yearly artist nomination process alongside NTU CCA Singapore’s Artist-in-Residence Advisory Board and international group of nominators
–Oversee the NTU CCA Singapore’s residency programme in all its day-to-day operations
–Maintain collegial relationships with other curators and institutions within Singapore and Southeast Asia to ensure continued relevance of the NTU CCA Singapore residency programme
Requirements
