About MPavilion 2020
MPavilion is Australia’s leading architecture commission, and a cultural laboratory for the community to engage and share. Every year since 2014 the Naomi Milgrom Foundation commissions an outstanding architect to design a pavilion in the centre of Melbourne’s Southbank Arts Precinct. With over 400 free events every summer, MPavilion spotlights Melbourne as the creative and design capital of Australia, fostering discussion and debate about the role design, architecture and culture have in creating cities that are liveable, creative and equitable.
This year, instead of building a new pavilion, MPavilion 2020 will engage its original six MPavilions and prioritise an expanded program supporting local designers and artists. With more funding than ever going directly to creators, the Naomi Milgrom Foundation is commissioning people from all works of life to create, debate and share their knowledge. Expanding the program outside of the Queen Victoria Gardens, Melburnians will be able to enjoy free events popping up across the city at the past six pavilions, from the inner city Docklands, to the Melbourne Zoo, and Monash University campus in Clayton.
