Programme announcement for Glasgow International’s sixth edition
Glasgow International is a world-renowned biennial festival of contemporary art. Animating the city from 4 to 21 April 2014, Glasgow International continues to showcase Glasgow as a unique centre for the production and display of exceptional contemporary visual art. Taking place in various venues and locations across the city, including Glasgow’s major art spaces and cultural institutions, the festival will comprise an ambitious programme of exhibitions, talks and performances by international and local artists.
Highlights for the 2014 Festival will include:
Major new commissions curated by festival Director Sarah McCrory, including critically acclaimed international artists Bedwyr Williams and Michael Smith at Tramway in a programme co-curated with New York-based curator Mark Beasley. New solo exhibitions by Aleksandra Domanović and Sue Tompkins at GoMA and Simon Martin at Kelvingrove Museum.
A Programme for Homecoming 2014 with off-site projects by Jordan Wolfson, Anthea Hamilton & Nicholas Byrne, Charlotte Prodger, Hudinilson Jr and Avery Singer.
A new commission from Hardeep Pandhal, winner of the Open Glasgow Bursary.
A Glasgow 2014 cultural programme project by Assemble, co-commissioned by CREATE and VELOCITY.
There will also be more than 40 additional solo and group exhibitions and performances across the city including Lucy Rie and George Platt Lynes at Kendall Koppe, Anne Collier and Tobias Madison at The Modern Institute, Beatriz Santiago Muñoz at Transmission, Claudia Comte at David Dale Gallery, Michael Stumpf at Glasgow School of Art, Gareth Moore at Glasgow Sculpture Studios, Gabriel Kuri at The Common Guild, Khaled Hourani at Centre for Contemporary Art, Christina Ramberg at Carlton Place, Pierced Arrows at Monorail, Jesse Wine at Mary Mary, Johan Nieuwenhuize and Arnis Balcus at Street Level Photoworks, Craig Mulholland‘s Gymnasia, Alistair Frost‘s nail bar, and Laura Aldridge & Anna Mayer’s social pit-firing events.
