What are the stories you wouldn’t tell a stranger:
The story of your great-grandfather,
who was a colonial officer?
The story of your great-great-uncle,
a doctor who measured human beings?
The story of your second cousin,
who was worked to death on a plantation?
The story of your godfather,
who tried to convert remote peoples?
The story of your great-great-aunt,
who thought she had lost her soul to a camera?
The story of your forebears, whose
shrines were stolen?
