Megan Rooney (*1985, South Africa) is an enigmatic storyteller whose work expands across painting, performance, sculpture and installation. Born in South Africa, raised in Canada, and now living in London, Megan Rooney blends both her styles of monumental abstract and intimate figurative painting with sculpture, dance and performance in her artistic practise. As artist in residence at the Salzburger Kunstverein in 2020, Megan Rooney has been invited to create a solo exhibition in the Main Gallery as well as an immersive, large-scale mural in the Ring Gallery, which will run for one year. Altogether these two exhibitions will be the largest single presentation for an artist ever presented at the Salzburger Kunstverein.

The 2020 Spallart Prize Salzburg Award winner will present new work.
In her artistic works (including photographs, videos and publications), Luise Schröder (*1982, Potsdam) deals with the instrumentalization of the past as it pertains to a politics of the present. She examines the perpetuation of historical myths and their significance for various identities and communities. In the context of the 2020 SpallArt Prize Salzburg, the artist is showing photographs of recent work in the Kabinett gallery. This will include an intervention outside the Künstlerhaus: Memory Is a Ghost.

Lines of Thought is an exhibition examining contemporary drawing today. Inspired by the work of the late Romanian artist, Alina Popa (1982–2019), a number of artists have been invited to present drawings that circumnavigate philosophical and scientific ideas in visual form.
