Ignacio Uriarte. Structuring Chance
Kaiser Wilhelm Museum | April 23–August 23, 2020
Krefeld-born, Berlin based artist Ignacio Uriarte (1972) returns to his hometown with the exhibition Structuring Chance that offers a very personal perspective on the museum’s collection. As a child, he visited the KWM, and with this exhibition, he pays tribute to those artists who have especially influenced him and his artistic practice. Uriarte’s interest in seriality and structure originated from what he describes as his minimalistic and structured youth. For Collection Satellite #5, he has chosen works from the collection which adhere to minimalism and conceptual art, reacting upon these through new works.

Enzo Mari
Kaiser Wilhelm Museum, Haus Lange | October 8, 2020–February 28, 2021
This fall the Kunstmuseen Krefeld are proud to present a major retrospective dedicated to the Italian artist and designer Enzo Mari (*1932, Novara, Italy), one of the world’s most influential designers and theorists. The exhibition was originally developed for the Triennale Milano (April-September, 2020) by the internationally renowned curator Hans Ulrich Obrist. It will then come to the Kaiser Wilhelm Museum and Haus Lange in Krefeld, where—in collaboration with museum director Katia Baudin—it will be adapted and enhanced with additional works resituating Mari in the ZERO context. In addition, selected contemporary artists and designers will create new works reflecting on Mari’s legacy and pertinence. This is the first comprehensive exhibition dedicated to Enzo Mari to be shown in Germany.
The exhibition is organized in cooperation with the Triennale Milano.
