A cooperation between TONSPUR and quartier21/MQ for the MQ Summer of Sounds

Following the 2010 exhibition dedicated to Der Lautsprecher / The Loudspeaker, also curated by Georg Weckwerth of TONSPUR in close cooperation with quartier21/MQ: “This exhibition dares to foster the full dimensionality of sound” (The Wire). Or, in German: an exhibition, “die sich gegen die prinzipielle Trennung von raum- und zeitbasierten Künsten stellt” (Springerin).

Connecting Sound Etc. Cable Works, Cable Sounds, Cables Everywhere
The first major exhibition dedicated explicitly to cables in art. Curated by Georg Weckwerth, 80 works by over 50 international artists provide an insight into the wide range of contemporary approaches to this apparently mundane material. Works by media art pioneers, specially commissioned new works and works by acclaimed and emerging talents in an expansive inter- and transdisciplinary show.

Participating artists:
Tyler Adams, Dominique Blais, Nina Canell, Jozef Cseres, Julius Deutschbauer, Adam Donovan, William Eggleston, Thomas Ehgartner, Róza El-Hassan, Serina Erfjord*, VALIE EXPORT/Peter Weibel, Judith Fegerl, Klaus Ferentschik*, Thomas Feuerstein, Sabine Groschup, Shilpa Gupta, Ina Hagen*, Tim Hawkinson, Philipp Hennevogl, Pieter Hugo, Leopold Kessler, Günther Kieser, Young-Sup Kim*, Jürgen Klauke, Daisuke Kosugi*, Christina Kubisch, Mirko Lazović, Paul Albert Leitner, Via Lewandowsky, Maik + Dirk Löbbert, Emmanuel Madan*, Nicolas Mahler, Norbert Math, Robert Mathy, Ali Miharbi*, Robin Minard*, Warren Neidich*, Ursula Neugebauer, Clara Oppel, Ben Patterson, Ulla Rauter, Werner Reiterer, Marc Ries, Valentin Ruhry, Rudolf Schwarzkogler, son:DA*, Viktors Svikis, Atsuko Tanaka, Ulrich Troyer, Timm Ulrichs, Rens Veltman, Peter Weibel
