The International MA Program in Cultural and Creative Industries (IMCCI) is specifically designed for the arts and culture sector, providing training and research in contemporary arts and art management strategies for creative industries worldwide.
The program is built around three key areas: Arts and Humanities Core Theories, Arts and Contemporary Issues, and their application in knowledge of International Business Management Theories and Practice. We investigate crucial studies in Critical Theories, Performativity and Corporeality, and Curatography.
Some topics in our arts and contemporary issues courses include Contemporary Art in Taiwan and beyond, Performing Arts in Taiwan and beyond, Global Indigeneity, Fieldwork in Art, Critical Ecology, Socially Engaged Art, and Art and the Anthropocene, with applications in curatorial practice, art marketing strategies, art organization management, art exhibition and event practice, and cultural policy.
Currently, our program receives special funding from the Ministry of Education to support activities related to the University Social Responsibility program, which allows us to conduct further fieldwork and research on Indigeneity in Taiwan, as well as investigate inequality issues that have been discussed in the concept of the Global South.
The academic expertise of our staff and students form a diverse and welcoming community united by a passion for contemporary arts and performance as well as the wider arts and cultural sector. Our student population includes young professionals from various cultural backgrounds across five continents. They merge creativity and entrepreneurship, participating in art exhibitions, arts festivals, films, performing arts productions, and other activities that constitute Taipei’s rich cultural landscape.
If you are seeking a career in the arts or creative industries, or if you are a professional looking to enhance your existing knowledge and career prospects, then this course is ideal for you.
While the MA program does not include an organized internship, our dedicated academic staff assists students in acquiring practical experience through sharing information about competitive internship opportunities, offered by our art partners or other organizations across Taipei. Previous students from within the program have interned at the National Taiwan Museum, Bamboo Curtain Studio, Taipei Artist Village, Hong-Gah Museum, which gives you an idea of the exciting opportunities on offer. We also plan to collaborate with the Taipei Performing Arts Center, and the UNESCO non-profit organization International Organization of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians.
This program is designed to help you continue to innovate in your field, while providing the curation skills and attributes to bring your creative and art practices and/or knowledge to the next level.
