Interior Design at RMIT University is engaged as an expansive practice that addresses the relation between people and their environments in a dynamic and changing world. A global leader in Interior Design education and research, we position interior design as a critical practice that contributes to and transforms social, cultural, technological and environmental conditions in the twenty-first century. This year we celebrate 80 years of interior design at RMIT University. In 2020, we welcome a Master of Interior Design as part of the discipline stream which includes the Bachelor of Interior Design (Hons) and PhD by practice research. Our academics have practice backgrounds in interior design, architecture, curation, installation art, sculpture, digital design, history and writing.
We are looking for someone to join us who will contribute contemporary expertise and leadership to the Interior Design discipline; in particular, we welcome applicants who have experience in Asia and/or expertise in the areas of communication and/or technology. The Senior Lecturer will foster an excellent student experience and be responsible for developing, teaching and coordinating undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Interior Design. They will make original contributions in teaching and/or scholarship which expand knowledge and practice within the discipline; conduct and lead high quality research recognised at a national level; regularly publish research results in high quality outlets; identify appropriate funding sources and prepare successful external research funding submissions; oversee higher degree by research candidates.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will have qualifications and industry expertise in a relevant or associate discipline. Ideally you will bring outstanding creative practice and undertake research activities that engage with contemporary approaches relevant to the future of spatial and temporal environments. The role will also require you to prepare and deliver relevant high-quality courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
A PhD in a relevant discipline area is required.
Salary: Senior Lecturer Level C, AUD 118,291-136,401 + 17% superannuation.
