The Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism of Korea and the Korea Arts Management Service (KAMS) engage in a broad range of international exchange grant programs designed to introduce Korean contemporary art to audiences worldwide. As a part of this effort, KAMS awards grants, through the Fund for Korean Art Abroad, to international art institutions that organize exhibitions and projects outside Korea, for which Korean artists are invited to participate. By offering financial support to international art institutions, KAMS provides opportunities for promising Korean artists to penetrate the international art market and strengthen their network within the global art community.
Eligible applicant
–Both commercial (including art galleries and art agencies) and nonprofit (including art museums and biennales) international art organizations that invite Korean artists and/or collaborate with Korean partners in contemporary artwork exhibitions.
–International organizations run by a Korean national are eligible to apply.
–Applicant’s exhibition must be on view between May 2020 and December 2021.
Grant amount
Each exhibition can receive funds between KRW 5–30 million.
Allowed expenses
–Airfares and accommodation fees for all participating Korean artists and one curator
–Artwork transportation
–Costs required to promote the exhibition
Required documents
(1) Application Form: Available to download on the KAMS webpage
(2) Exhibition Agreement with the Korean artist/partner
–Commercial organizations: Specify the percentage in profits each party will receive from artwork sales
–Nonprofit organizations: Partnering with a gallery or art dealer responsible for the sale of artworks is preferred. In this case, applicants should submit an agreement specifying the percentage of profits each party will receive from artwork sales.
(3) Other materials (optional)
–Materials considered useful for the screening process include, but are not limited to, the following: press releases, articles, portfolios, etc.

Application assessment
An independent panel of judges will conduct (1) a review of application documents, and (2) interviews with selected applicants on a basis of several factors. These factors include the applicant’s portfolio, the details of the proposal, the proposed scale of the exhibition, the size of the proposed exhibition space, and the expected impact of the exhibition.
