Two important initiatives supported by the CRT Foundation for Modern and Contemporary Art take place again this year: the FLAT Prize – CRT Art Foundation, set up to reward an unpublished project, chosen from the proposals of publishers participating in the fair; the series of acquisitions that will enrich the Fondo Giorgio Maffei, dedicated to the great bibliophile and collector of rare books on the arts of the twentieth century, hosted at the GAM, Turin’s Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art.
FLAT also hosts a rich cultural program to reflect on the state of art publishing.
This year’s exhibition, Maurizio Nannucci / This sense of Openness, is dedicated to Italian artist Maurizio Nannucci. Curated by Elena Volpato, the show brings together 150 works, including publications and multiples, created by the artist between 1967 and 2019. The book Maurizio Nannucci / This sense of openness / Correspondence, also curated by Volpato, published by FLAT and Zona Archives, will collect for the first time a wide selection of letters, postcards and telegrams received since the Sixties from many artists with whom Nannucci developed a correspondence, aimed mainly at the creation of publications and exhibition opportunities.
Finally, the Public Program—a multifaceted series of talks, conversations, round tables, art and artist’s book presentations curated by Francesca Valentini—focusing on the exhibition catalogue and offering a critical analysis of its salient features transformations. Participants: Ilaria Bombelli, Pier Giovanni Castagnoli, Luca Cerizza, Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, Chiara Costa, Thomas Demand, Liliana Dematteis, Herwig Kempinger, Abbott Miller, Maurizio Nannucci, Michalis Pichler, Max Schumann, Ken Soehner, Francesca Valentini, Helena Velèna, Elena Volpato.
