Konstfack’s new two-year Master’s programmes offer preparation for careers or research and lead to the award of a Master’s (120 credits) degree.

CRAFT!
CRAFT! offers a norm-critical and international Master’s programme in some of Europe’s most well equipped workshops. As a student, you develop your expertise, at the same time as you have the opportunity to expand and deepen your knowledge and position your work in a contemporary field of craft. CRAFT! is a programme in which we view craft as a relevant method for questioning and challenging the time in which we live and as a tool for critical investigation of, and through, making and materialisation. The programme is characterised by a social engagement anchored in the understanding that craft can exist between and beyond traditional boundaries you apply with a project that focuses on one of the following tracks: Ceramics and Glass, Textiles or Ädellab.

Design
In the Master’s programme in Design your capacity to work experimentally and critically reflective is strengthened. You both formulate and explore design challenges in an artistic way. You will design based on aesthetic as well as personal, social, environmental and other socially relevant aspects, and thereby explore different approaches, methods and design areas.

Design offers two specialisations:
Individual Study Plan in Design: an individual study plan offers you the opportunity to specialise within the field of design through in-depth studies and personal development. You prepare yourself for the design of products, systems, services, or for experiences. Explore complex social challenges in collaboration with others. This direction offers you preparations for both professional careers as well as further studies at doctoral level.

Spatial Design: offers individual in-depth studies and personal development within the field of Interior Architecture and Furniture Design. In Spatial design you will challenge your discipline and expand the territories of interiors and furniture in order to respond to the many urgent questions society faces today. Spatial Design offers preparations for both professional careers as well as further studies at doctoral level.

Fine Art
An individualised Master’s Programme in Fine Art with a focus on strong self-reflection as well as development and intensification of your artistic project. The Master’s Programme Fine Art is interdisciplinary and based on the conviction that artistic creation can draw on all forms of knowledge and means. The programme functions in a sphere of critical aesthetics and is grounded in the values of the art department’s own history of socially committed education—for us art is deeply integrated into both society and debate. Our professors and teachers are eminent practitioners and pursue careers in their fields, where many of our alumni can also be found today, both nationally and internationally. In studio discussions, workshops and lectures you will also meet a great many other participants in the field of art. Study trips and visits are other elements in the programme.

Visual Communication
A norm creative Master’s programme in Visual Communication with a focus on your own work. During two years you will be given the opportunity to challenge and deepen your graphic design and/or illustration practice in relation to broader social, cultural and economic contexts. With a take-off point in norm criticality, we study how identity, norms and borders are formed through the landscape of visual communication and how artistic methods can be developed to expand your own practice as well as the field. Through supervision, seminars, feedback, workshops and lectures alongside teachers who are active within the field and gained documented knowledge and experience of norm creative practices, this programme makes a unique collaborative environment where your own work is in focus for discussions and processes of making.

Konstfack is Sweden’s largest university for arts, crafts and design. Since 1844, we have educated a diverse range of professionals within these fields as well as art and sloyd teachers. We conduct both artistic and scientific education/research and currently have 900 students and 200 employees.
