Flashback, the most contemporary ancient and modern art fairis coming back to Pala Alpitour in Turin with a new chapter: Gli Erranti / The Wanderers.

Who are The Wanderers?
This is all of us, time wanderers of art and within art, hobos in our eternal present; the art galleries which take us back to the magic tale of the princes of Serendip, tireless wanderers who in their journeys stumble onto new marvels at every step; the artworks of every time, style and part of the world; the visitors and collectors invited to lose themselves in our very sought-after chaos.

The Flashback tale is narrated by several voices, which moves into every directions, an experience that involves every sense.

Flashback special project
Opera Viva Barriera di Milano is the urban art project devised by Alessandro Bulgini and curated by Christian Caliandro: a space for a 6x3m billboard in Turin, in Piazza Bottesini (Barriera di Milano, a multi-ethnic district in town), which is interpreted by five artists six months a year and, during Flashback, an exhibition that takes the suburbs to the center, gathering the posters developed throughout the months. The project was born in the belief that art must leave the institutional spaces and integrate into the dimension of everyday’s existence while the exhibition represents a brief intensive opportunity where the artworks amplifies and multiplies, narrating once again this window open on the world and for the world.

Flashback exhibition
Cambiando dimora: i passi nel tempo (Changing abode: the time wanderers), the double show by Eva Marisaldi and Hidetoshi Nagasawa, a project by Michela Casavola, which compares two generations of artists—both impressed by the passing of time, by the reason of the journey and by the temporal suspension.

Gli anni 80 (The eighties), exhibition dedicated to Marco Gastini, one of the most appreciated Italian artist of the post-World War II age, an opportunity to observe the wandering matrix of the artist in the introduction of the most varied materials.

The Wanderers, wall painting by Sergio Cascavilla, of a narratively surreal signs.

Flashback lab
The labs are pedagogic workshops devised as a pathway to knowledge of art that roots into and connects to the history of the territory, with the ambition of providing the attendees with a toolbox that helps them recognizing Beauty in the places of everyday’s life. During Flashback, they are both for schools and for families (on Saturday and Sunday, November 2 and 3 at 3:30pm, upon reservation at info [at] flashback.to.it)

Flashback sound
It is the rich lively show schedule dedicated to music which this year plays on the double meaning of “errare”—both “to wander” and “to be wrong”—and “time”—understood as pace and rhythm. The project of Flashback sound move in the border zone between improvisation and sheet music, in its most diverse variations, with propensity for jazz and crossover that are tailor-made for the spirit of this edition.

Flashback storytelling
Four selected pupils of Scuola Holden (Alessandro Baricco school of writing) let themselves be inspired to some of the works exhibited at the fair and to wave a tale around them. This is Sinoptica, a project born from the collaboration between Holden and Flashback and whose objective is drawing the public near the artworks through an original, multi-disciplinary pathway. The students are allowed using words, gestures or sounds to make up their performances and translating the message launched by the exposed artists centuries ago into a contemporary language.

Flashback talk
Parole nomadi is a space dedicated to the disclosure and lucid digression, with guests who will discuss and question themselves on the nomadic nature of art and on its power to overcome borders and boundaries that would be insurmountable by other means.

Flashback video
The section dedicated to the images in movement, this edition has been entrusted to the RamingoProduzioni which creates original productions, investigating art and the contemporary society in its drifts. On one hand, the installation in which three elements seemingly distant find new life through a direct confrontation and thanks to the use of their expressed common thread, to wander. On the other hand, the projection of The art trick (Angelo Froglia and other stories), a posthumous portrait of Angelo Froglia (the artist who made two of the three fake heads of Amedeo Modigliani in 1984) that includes life and works, equally audacious, of this controversial and marginalized artist, who had a life so intense and deflagrating as short and painful.

Flashback food & drink
This year, Flashback will accompany its guests in a journey of tastes through continents and (lucky) mistakes: from low-temperature cooking to those born “wrong” drinks that managed to connote new cultures. Flashback food & drink will allow everybody to wander with the palate as well.
