The Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics (MPIEA), Frankfurt/Main, proudly announces its new Artist-in-Residence program INHABIT. The program fosters the exchange between artists and scientists and enables new and challenging perspectives towards the research at the Institute. It calls on artists interested in cooperating with scientists from the humanities.

INHABIT invites artists from a wide range of visual and performing arts disciplines to spend three months at the institute and to develop a new work or elaborate on an existing project. Residents are expected to execute their project as a performance, exhibition, or concert in cooperation with a local exhibition venue. During the artists’ residence in Frankfurt, the MPIEA provides space and resources and thus facilitates an environment for experimentation, dialogue, and collaboration

About MPIEA
Founded in 2013 and located in Frankfurt/Main, the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics explores in a joint effort of researchers from the humanities and the sciences who aesthetically appreciates what, for which reasons, and under which situational and historical circumstances, and analyzes the functions of aesthetic practices and preferences for individuals and societies. The MPIEA is currently the only research institution in the world that is solely dedicated to interdisciplinary research on aesthetic perception and evaluation. The MPIEA is one of 86 research institutions of the Max Planck Society, one of Europe’s leading organizations in the field of basic research. To learn more, visit our website.
