Artists who have established a professional practice, and seek possibilities for further reflection and development, can increase their research skills at the DAS Choreography (previously Amsterdam Master of Choreography). This two-year non-residential Master of Art programme of the Amsterdam University of the Arts aims to contribute to the field of critical and contemporary dance practice. The individual artistic practice is the point of departure and will be the guiding thread of the course design.
The programme contains four seminars each year, residencies in Amsterdam, and individual mentoring, which all together allow for developing an intensive and sustained dialogue in relation to an ongoing artistic practice. This dialogue is sustained through strong investment on high quality feedback, peer exchange, sharing reading, writing and practices. The programme offers a place to slow down the chaos, to allow for being overwhelmed, to not know. It gives time and a place for creating conditions for developing artistic practices.
DAS Choreography is part of the DAS Graduate School, established in 2016 by the Amsterdam University of the Arts, to bring its masters, doctorate and research programmes together under one roof. The school finds its home in a recently renovated building, the heart of which has been transformed into an open & welcoming locale for gatherings and meetings between the arts, science, education and society.
