The Parsons Fine Arts MFA program is now accepting graduate applications for 2020 and is inviting you to see the work of our current graduate students at the Fall 2019 Open Studios on Thursday, October 17, 6–9pm.
Our vibrant group of 47 students will present their work to the public and be available to discuss their work. Faculty will also be present to answer questions to potential applicants. Open Studios provides a rare opportunity to gain insight into the diverse practices within our international studio art program that cultivates interdisciplinary, media-driven skill sets, experimentation and intellectual rigor, while providing an innovative learning community for emerging artists.

The Parsons Fine Arts MFA course is a dynamic two-year, cross-disciplinary program. We foster studio-based research and scholarship that extends the boundaries of contemporary cultural expression, developed through a global understanding of the arts. Parsons Fine Arts is committed to diversity among students and faculty that provides a potent learning community. Housed within both Parsons School of Design and The New School University, the Fine Arts program is uniquely positioned within a progressive educational environment. Our international student body has access to a wide spectrum of activities, ranging from rigorous formal and aesthetic investigations to cross-disciplinary collaborations with design, performing arts and humanities students, to public forums that address pressing social and political concerns.
Parsons Fine Arts is home to an internationally acclaimed faculty whose work has been included in the Whitney Biennial, Venice Biennale, Documenta, the Sharjah Biennial and the Sydney Biennale; and exhibited in institutions such as the New Museum, the Whitney Museum and the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Additionally our Visiting Artist Lecture Series and our Critic and Curator Series features renowned, multidisciplinary artists, curators and critics who are available for one-on-one visits with graduate students. This culture of dialogical exchange supports our graduate students to redefine their role as emerging artists in the field. The Fall 2019 Visiting Artists Lecture Series is open to the public and features Dean Erdman, Laura Ortman, Valerie Tevere & Angel Nevarez, Tiffany Chung, Javier Telléz, Tschabalala Self, Diamond Stingily, Pieter Schoolwerth and Adelita Husni-Bey.
