The Museo de Arte de Lima - MALI is pleased to announce that Bartomeu Marí has been appointed as the new Executive Director of the organization. He will assume the duties of Director in July.
Bartomeu Marí (Ibiza, 1966), Bachelor of Philosophy and Education Sciences, is considered one of the most recognized figures in the art world. During his 30 years of experience in the field, he has served as director of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) of the Republic of Korea (2016–18) and as director of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA) (2008–15). In this institution, he also acted as chief curator between 2004 and 2007.
Between 1996 and 2001 he directed the Witte de With, Contemporary Art Center, Rotterdam and from 2002 to 2003, the Centro Internacional de Cultura Contemporánea in Donostia-San Sebastián. He previously served as curator at the Valencian Institute of Modern Art-IVAM (1994–96) and from 1989 to 1993, as curator of exhibitions at the Fondation pour l’Architecture in Brussels, Belgium. Throughout his career, he has curated numerous exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, and has extensively published on the art of the 20th and 21st centuries.
