no time for laundry

The Tufts University Art Galleries and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University proudly present no time for laundry, the Master of Fine Arts thesis exhibition, on view from May 1–19, 2019. A public opening reception will take place on Friday, May 17 from 7–9pm at the Aidekman Arts Center at 40 Talbot Avenue in Medford.

The exhibition presents the work of graduating Master of Fine Arts students from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University. Titled by the graduating class, the phrase “no time for laundry” humorously sums up the singular focus of an MFA Thesis student’s life. School, art and political engagement swallow up daily life leaving little time for much else. 

no time for laundry provides a glimpse into the practice of this class of emerging artists.

“The robust relationship between research and creative production exemplify the artists in the class of 2019,” said Jeannie Simms, a SMFA at Tufts professor of the practice, photography and director of graduate studies. “Historical narratives and urgent social and political questions from the contemporary moment drive their studio production, archival and textual studies, and culminate into a consequential collection of artworks in the 2019 MFA Thesis Exhibition.”

The exhibition represents the capstone of the master’s program at SMFA at Tufts where students develop their artistic vision and move into their future careers as working artists.

About the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University
