MA, PhD, Postdoctoral Research Certificate, and Certificate of Study <br>
Applications continue to be welcomed for the MA and PhD degree programs in “Philosophy, Art, and Social Thought,” and “Literary, Musical, and Visual Thought”. The EGS has also created a Postdoctoral Research Certificate, as well as a Certificate of Study (for individuals who do not seek a degree program but would like to undertake an EGS session).
Students may also apply to attend individual courses in any of our upcoming sessions, space permitting.
All of our programs are low-residency; students admitted to a degree program attend one session per year (24 days in length on either campus: Saas-Fee, Switzerland or Valletta, Malta) in their first and second years of study. As in most years, there will be three sessions from which students can choose in 2019: June (June 6—8, 2019 in Venice, Italy and continues in Saas-Fee, Switzerland from June 10—30, 2019), August (July 31—August 23, 2019 in Saas-Fee, Switzerland), and October (October 9—November 1, 2019 in Valletta, Malta). Applications continue to be accepted for all sessions in 2019, view the schedule here.
This June 2019, legendary Mexican filmmaker Carlos Reygadas will teach at the EGS in Saas-Fee. The June Session will also feature longtime EGS Professors including Mladen Dolar, Alenka Zupančič, Slavoj Žižek, Avital Ronell, Elie During, Michael Schmidt, Diane Davis, as well as Carlos Amorales, Benjamin H. Bratton, and Sha Xin Wei.
In August 2019, also in Saas-Fee, students will enjoy seminars with Karen Barad, Caveh Zahedi, Christopher Fynsk, Fred Moten, Denise Ferreira da Silva and Manthia Diawara, Catherine Malabou, Siegfried Zielinski, Peter Szendy, Branislav Jakovljević, Terry Smith, and Robert Brewer Young.
The schedule for the October session in Malta is still being finalised, but will include three significant events, including a seminar/colloquium on blockchain and alternative thinking regarding economy and ecology led by a distinguished team of researchers, a seminar with Angela Davis, Gina Dent, and Manthia Diawara relating to contemporary black thought, and a three-day theatrical event/seminar on the island of Comino. The list of other teaching faculty will be announced shortly, and will contain experienced and distinguished EGS professors.
