Project Anywhere is a global blind peer reviewed exhibition program dedicated to art and artistic research at the outermost limits of location-specificity. Although descriptions and images of hosted projects are featured on a dedicated website, Project Anywhere is neither an online exhibition nor a journal. It is instead a vehicle for illuminating artistic projects located outside traditional exhibition circuits. It is perhaps best imagined as an exhibition comprising the entire globe in which the role of curator is replaced with a blind evaluation system.
All proposals submitted to Project Anywhere are comprehensively reviewed by 4 artist academics of international standing. Re-submitted “provisionally accepted” proposals are then reviewed by our International Editorial Committee.
Project Anywhere’s evaluation criteria stress that all proposals must make a clear and compelling case for a proposed project’s capacity to contribute to knowledge in an identified field of creative practice. Accordingly, it is expected that proposals identify related artistic precedents and relevant literature. Projects can be highly speculative or discursive in nature and can extend or contradict existing methodologies.
At the cessation of Project Anywhere’s annual Global Exhibition Program, all hosted projects are eligible to present at our biennial conference Anywhere and Elsewhere at Parsons Fine Art in New York City. This biennial conference event features presentations from artists that have successfully navigated blind peer evaluation through Project Anywhere, together with a series of invited presentations from artists, scholars, curators and writers actively engaged with art and artistic research at the outermost limits of location specificity. Following the biennial conference, all presenters are invited to contribute to our innovative biennial publication Anywhere. This publication features contributions ranging from scholarly texts to photo essays to annotated diagrams and graphic illustrations (or indeed any page-based representation of projects typically located elsewhere in space and time). Considered together, Project Anywhere, Anywhere and Elsewhere and Anywhere reveal distinctive reflective moments in the process from conception through production to dissemination in artistic research beyond traditional exhibition circuits.
Project Anywhere accepts proposals from artists and researchers working anywhere in the world and is designed to suit artists seeking independent peer-validation and international dissemination for artistic research. Project Anywhere does not provide funding nor expect exclusivity. It also welcomes collaborative or curatorial projects or projects hosted by other institutions.

Atopia: Stories + Vision by Refugees (Avia Rubin and Stephen Fan) seeks to bridge the architectural and social by re-inserting the refugee and their experience of place into conversations about migration and dislocation.
Listeners at Work (Delhi Listening Group) fuses social and aesthetic listening practices of social workers, educators and artists into a toolkit of ensemble creative research and experimental pedagogical practices.
Firmament (Niccolò Moronato) investigates the formation of different contemporary identities, simultaneously generating hypotheses regarding history, imagination, and the creation of myths.
Following Burke and Wills (MONUMENTAL—Jason Waterhouse & Michael Needham) explores representations of cultural memory/heritage by probing historical narratives and Australian relationship with public monuments.
The Living (Annika Berry and Eliza Doyle), working in collaboration with Survivalists in and around New York City,this project explores and embodies the burden of threat as a means of opening up and revealing fragilities within our society, our ecosystem and ourselves.
Lowering Simon Fraser (Maddie Leach) proposes that a particular section of granite could be ‘lowered’ and then relocated to a small pond in a remote mountain pass in the Canadian Rockies, (where the Fraser River rises).
Drawing Wonder (Kiera O’Toole) examines how site-specific drawing has the capacity to create a sense of wonder in order to call attention to the ontological relationship between the subject (drawer and viewer) and the object (drawing) and the site,
Son of Man (Shelia Chukwulozie And Amir Hall) is a multidisciplinary artistic excavation of manhood in Lagos, Nigeria, and Trinidad and Tobago. This collaborative work attempts to translate and transcribe the Book of Job through a contemporary lens by engaging the stories of our fathers and men like them.
Signifiers (Aurora Del Rio, Alvin McIntyre And Lavina Bottamedi) utilizesritualwith a view to maintaining a language of primal symbolism, gestures, symbols and objects employed in a way that is separated from specific religions and other cultural traditions that use ritualistic forms.
