Artissima 2019: applications open
November 1–3, 2019
A central event for national and international collectors, art lovers and global press, Artissima attracts 55,000 visitors, including 5,000 contemporary art collectors from 80 countries, 15 groups of patrons of prestigious museums worldwide and 1,500 accredited journalists.
The 26th edition of the fair will take place from October 31 (preview) to November 3, 2019 in Turin and will showcase experimental young talents alongside outstanding galleries and internationally recognized artists that have shaped the history of contemporary art.
Director Ilaria Bonacossa has nominated a new team of international curators to develop the different sections of the fair and a series of specific projects, talks and lectures that confirm Artissima’s experimental and curatorial nature.
The seven sections:
Main Section
Gathering the most important contemporary galleries active on the international art scene to offer collectors and the public a high-quality event.
New Entries
Devoted to the most interesting young galleries opened since 2015 and taking part in Artissima for the first time.
Dialogue
Reserved exclusively for emerging contemporary galleries applying with either a monographic presentation or two artists in dialogue.
Art Spaces & Editions
Hosting galleries and no profit spaces presenting limited editions, prints and multiples by contemporary artists.
Present Future
Curated section focusing on emerging talents, preferably under 40. The works of the artists include new productions as well as projects that are being displayed for the first time in Italy and Europe.
Back to the Future
Curated section presenting museum quality monographic booths focusing on works realised between 1960s and 1990s. The section aims to bring international artists who have played a fundamental role in contemporary art back into the limelight. For the general public, Back to the Future is a unique opportunity to get to know important works from those years in a dialogue with today’s experimentation. This year the section is also open to the artists’ estates.
Disegni
Curated section devoted to the expressive medium of drawing. The section is intended to celebrate an artistic discipline capable of expressing the immediacy of and the thinking behind the creative gesture, existing in a space suspended between idea and finished work.
