January 23–March 1, 2019, 11:59pm
We’re delighted to announce that the call for proposals for Forecast’s fourth edition is now open.
As an international platform for knowledge transfer, Forecast offers artists and creative thinkers from anywhere in the world the chance to work with accomplished mentors toward bringing their projects to fruition. Forecast transcends neatly defined genres to provide insight into creative production processes, and carve out space for the questions on the minds of the next generation of trailblazers.
Artists and practitioners working in all creative fields are encouraged to apply with projects that tackle issues concerning the future, and what can we do to actively shape it.
For this edition, Forecast has selected six mentors, all accomplished in their respective fields: visual artist Candice Breitz (South Africa), artist and internet activist Paolo Cirio (Italy), musician Okkyung Lee (South Korea), cartoonist Anders Nilsen (US), radio reporter Joe Richman (US), and conceptual designer Jerszy Seymour (UK/Canada).
Applicants should submit proposals according to which mentor they would want to work with. To find out more about each mentor and what he or she is looking for in a potential mentee, click here.
The deadline for applications is March 1, at 11:59pm CET. The mentors will then carefully review all proposals and invite three candidates each. The candidates will present their ideas at the Forecast Forum in Berlin, taking place July 1–7, 2019. At the conclusion of the Forum, six mentees will be chosen, one in each field, to develop their ideas further with their mentors.
The six mentees will receive a production budget and artist fee, and will have nine months to bring their ideas to fruition. In addition to independent, ongoing exchanges with their mentor, this period will also include a one-on-one workshop with the mentor at one of six hosting partner institutions.
The final projects will be presented to the public at the Forecast Festival, taking place March 30–April 5, 2020. This edition will be Forecast’s first at the new partner institution in Berlin, Radialsystem.
