Now in its third year, the L.A. Summer Residency at Otis College of Art and Design offers an opportunity for artists and designers to work side-by-side in an immersive three-week residency within the vibrant and culturally diverse arts community of Los Angeles. Limited fellowship opportunities are available for applicants that submit by the priority deadline.
Through access to Otis College’s advanced studios, the residency provides participants with an opportunity to produce unique work and investigate new ideas. Areas of specialization include: ceramics; digital media (video and animation); furniture design; jewelry; letterpress and book arts; new genre; painting; photography; sculpture; silkscreen; 3D printing; and wood and metal work.
Programming for the L.A. Summer Residency includes visiting speakers and mentors, artist nights, and one or more trips to various Los Angeles cultural institutions. In addition, each artist or designer, when applicable, will be given their own dedicated, semi-private, 24-hour access studio space. Participants will be hosted at Otis College’s housing and dining complex on its Elaine and Bram Goldsmith Campus.
Session A: May 19–June 7, 2019
Session B: June 9–28. 2019
