Wrocław Type Forum: “Calligraphy-Lettering-Typography”

We are pleased to invite you to the 2nd Wrocław Type Forum, an international type design & typography conference!

Wrocław Type Forum concerns contemporary typography and type design. We want to connect academic reflection with design activity. Raised topics of historical motifs and modern design will encourage us to think about future.

During Wrocław Type Forum you will have the opportunity to meet new inspiring people, discuss ideas and share your knowledge. As the main topic of the conference suggests, our aim is to consider the word ‘letter’ from different points of view. 

The programme includes two days of lectures by: Riccardo Olocco, Dan Reynolds, Victoria i Vitalina Lopukhiny, Péter Simon, Tomasz Bierkowski, Maciej Majchrzak, Katarzyna Roj, Nikola Djurek and Viktoriya Grabowska. Additionally, there will be a discussion with Adam Twardoch moderated by Rene Wawrzkiewicz (PGDAwards).

The main language of the conference is English.

The registration is obligatory. The conference fee is 150 PLN (or 37 EUR) and 100 PLN (25 EUR) for students (you will have to present a document during the registration in Wrocław).

The Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design offers top of the range art and design education on three levels—Bachelor, Master and PhD. We are a state university and we educate students on full time and part time basis in four faculties: Faculty of Painting and Sculpture, Faculty of Interior Architecture and Design, Faculty of Ceramics and Glass and Faculty of Graphics and Media Art. Our main building is located in the historical part of Wroclaw and the new building—The Centre of Applied Arts and Innovation—is a state of art building with ultra-modern studios and facilities.

In the academic year 2019/20 we offer two study programmes conducted in English: MFA in Visual Arts and Interdisciplinary PhD.

MFA in Visual Arts is a 2-year (4 semesters), interdisciplinary study programme, where students can choose as a major, one of the fields of study we currently offer. Each student will be able to develop their knowledge and artistic skills in their own pace, making use of expertise of our teachers and state of art facilities of the academy. In the summer semester students take part in a 10-day outdoor workshop.

Interdisciplinary PhD study programme is a 3-year (6 semesters) interdisciplinary study programme, with possibility to study in one of our four faculties. It is addressed to graduates of Master Degree studies who show exceptional ability and significant artistic achievement. The Academy offers a monthly scholarship for each PhD student for the duration of studies. 

These programmes are free of charge for both EU and non-EU citizens. Additionally, we offer free Polish language tutorials to all our international students.

Seeking Visiting Professor/Visiting Artist
The Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design is currently looking for a Visiting Professor/Visiting Artist for one semester (4 months) starting from October 1, 2018 and for international lecturers/artists interested in conducting 5-day workshops. We are looking for professionals from different parts of the world, with different points of view, academic background and artistic experience to contribute to the Academy’s interdisciplinary approach to education.
