While most graduate programs grow out of their undergraduate model, Cranbrook Academy of Art offers something entirely different. Ranked as the top studio-based graduate-only program in the United States, Cranbrook is exclusively devoted to producing graduates that are immediately prepared to enter the world of art, architecture and design.
Our unique program offers an intense studio-based experience comprised of more than 100 graduate students. Artists-in-Residence mentor students in Architecture, 2D, 3D, and 4D Design, Ceramics, Fiber, Metalsmithing, Painting, Photography, Print Media, and Sculpture to creatively influence contemporary culture. The curriculum is structured around self-directed studio work, critique, a rigorous academic program and a robust schedule of visiting artists, architects, designers, and thinkers.
The Academy is a community of makers all of whom live and practice alongside each other on our extraordinary historic campus. Our graduates not only leave with an MFA or MArch degree, but a cohort of thinking partners, co-conspirators, and collaborators who will be their creative community for a lifetime.
Find out if the Academy is right for you at our graduate open house on December 1 from 10am–4pm. Visit each department, tour studio spaces, learn about life on campus and enjoy a complimentary brunch in our private Eliel Saarinen-designed dining hall. Then stay for a lecture by UK-based designer Brendan Dawes, sponsored by our new 4D Design department.
Our competitive 2-year MFA or MArch programs are ideal for motivated students who want to take their work to the next level. Cranbrook offers opportunities for full tuition support and grants while offering unlimited studio time and full access to our on-site contemporary art museum.
To attend the open house, please register in advance via EventBrite.
