Gallery Weekend Korea 2018

Korea Gallery Weekend 2018 will be held from October 4 to 7 during KIAF 2018 ART SEOUL, to expand the oversea Korean contemporary art market and enlarge the base of Korean art which developed as the center of Asian art market.
Organized by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Arts Management Service (KAMS), conducted by the Galleries Association of Korea, Gallery Weekend Korea will celebrate its third consecutive edition as an international event that invites key oversea professionals to help Korean art associates, artists and the general public to understand global art trends and art market. Furthermore, Gallery Weekend Korea will introduce Korea’s top galleries and artists to major international art professionals. Gallery Weekend Korea provides various programs such as K-ART Fam-tour, Networking Reception, K-ART Conversation for Korean and international visitors
The K-ART Fam-tour is an opportunity for international guests to take a tour on major Korean galleries (around 15) and museums to have the opportunity meeting with artists and hear words from the officials. The tour will provide the guests with vivid presentation of Korean art scene. The networking reception, which is part of the Fam-tour program, facilitates close cooperation with international guests and Korean arts professionals. In addition, tourists can visit Gwangju Biennale, which has grown into an international art event and has gained a huge response, so that they can experience Korean art scene acting as a global stage.
K-ART Conversation is an international panel talk hosted by Korea Arts Management Service (KAMS) and Galleries Association of Korea, in partnership with Talking Galleries of Spain. Invited panels of International and Korean experts will talk through various topics related to the visual arts and tell colorful stories that are currently happening in the vibrant art scene. The lecture is composed of five sessions including collection, media, art market report, architecture, and design.
In addition, the Art Bus, which is accessible to the general public, is open from 2pm to 6pm on October 5 (Friday), 6 (Saturday), and 7 (Sunday). The program will provide chance to take a look at galleries around Insa-dong and Samchung-dong. General visitors will take a ride on Art Bus departing from Coex going to Insa-dong, and will be able to freely tour exhibitions and Insa-dong centering on the gallery information provided.
