CalArts’ MA Aesthetics and Politics Program is pleased to announce that the renowned media scholar and literary critic Katherine Hayles will be its 2019 Theorist in Residence. Author of the seminal How We Became Posthuman, which has been hailed as “the key text which brought posthumanism to broad international attention,” Katherine Hayles has been an influential voice in arts and media discourse for decades.

As part of her tenure as Theorist in Residence, Hayles will deliver two public lectures in late January, 2019:
January 23: “Human as Alien: From Frankenstein to Ex Machina and Annihilation
January 26: “Media and/as the Environment.”
