Artist with Photography emphasis, Associate or Full Professor, tenured
We seek an established artist with photography as a central practice whose work engages with issues of Diversity and Equity, and Social Justice and with other, cross-disciplinary art production, such as studio art, performance, installation and/or computing in the arts, for a tenured position as Associate Professor or beginning Full Professor. Teaching will encompass the entire curricular range from large introductory lecture and intermediate lecture courses, to intermediate production and technique courses on lens-based media production (still and/or moving) to advanced undergraduate production and critique courses on photographic strategies, advanced techniques, and artistic research, and graduate courses for MFA students in a program structured around concepts, theories, and practices. Media, whose faculty includes scholars and artists, is part of the Visual Arts Department, one of the few in the nation to offer both a MFA and a PhD in Art History and Criticism, which also includes a concentration in Art Practice. The department offers undergraduate majors in Art History, Interdisciplinary Computing in Art, Speculative Design and Studio as well as Media. We expect the new faculty to provide leadership in further developing and enriching the Media major, the Photography minor, and other Visual Arts programs.
Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience based on UC pay scales.
