Plymouth College of Art Graduate School is home to an active, cross-disciplinary community of makers and thinkers, whose work emerges from a dialogue between art, craft and design disciplines, informed by the core values of Plymouth College of Art—the purposeful exploration of the relationship between creative learning and social justice.

Featuring painting, drawing, sculptural installation, moving image, design, glass and ceramics, the Plymouth College of Art MA show 2018 will present postgraduate research projects undertaken within our specialist community of practice.

The exhibition will take place in the dedicated studios and research spaces of the college’s Graduate School, which is open to the public from September 20 to 29 2018 from 9am to 5pm weekdays and 10am to 2pm Saturdays, with a late opening Friday 28 September as part of Plymouth Art Weekender.

The  MA Show 2018 will feature work from graduates across our MA programmes, including MA Disruptive Design; MA Fine Art; MA Painting; MA Drawing; MA Printmaking; MA Illustration; MA Photography; MA Ceramics; MA Jewellery; MA Textile Design; MA Visual Communication; and MA Entrepreneurship for Creative Practice.

About Plymouth College of Art
“The entire object of true education is to make people…not merely learned, but to love knowledge—not merely just, but to hunger and thirst after justice.” –John Ruskin, The Crown of Wild Olive: Four Lectures on Industry and War (1882)

Founded in 1856, Plymouth College of Art provides a fertile, challenging and intellectual environment with strong support for technical formation, for postgraduate students who want to transform their professional horizons and to respond positively to the substantive issues facing contemporary society.

The college’s dynamic postgraduate delivery offers critical and technical expertise in a range of disciplines. MA students at Plymouth College of Art are proactive researchers into practice, transformative and agenda-changing professionals who contribute to the future of the creative and cultural industries, studying across a spectrum of Masters programmes including the MA Creative Education: Making Learning, which is a platform for experimental approaches to creative pedagogy.

All of the college’s awards are supported by a focused research culture, which includes the biennial international conferences, Making Futures exploring artisanal craft in an expanded field, and Making Learning, a crucible for open enquiry through arts education. In response to the ongoing drive to marginalise the creative arts in mainstream education within the UK, in 2013 the college founded Plymouth School of Creative Arts and built The Red House in an inner-city area of significant social and economic deprivation—thereby inaugurating a unique progressive continuum of creative learning and practice from age three to postgraduate level that is attracting national and international interest.
