Never Give Up The Spot represents an experiment to combine destruction and creation. To this end, Thomas Hirschhorn transforms the Museum Villa Stuck into a ruin. There are shelters inside the ruin which invite visitors to be present, engage in discussions, arrange to meet and produce. The same materials that were used to build the ruin are also available for use by visitors. There are tools, books, writing utensils, seating areas, computers and other material. Never Give Up the Spot appeals to a new understanding of the museum as an institution that opens up to the public and is free of hierarchies. It’s a place where there is nothing to buy! The sculpture Never Give Up The Spot draws attention to the importance—now and in the future—of taking a stand and sticking to it. It’s a place that welcomes all people!
An exhibition of the Museum Villa Stuck
