FLAT – Fiera Libro Arte Torino, the international event dedicated to artist’s books and contemporary art books, will take place in Turin from November 2 to 4, 2018 in the La Centrale space at the new Nuvola Lavazza complex. The 44 exhibitors, from 11 countries, will show the best international production of exhibition catalogues, monographs, essays, artist’s books, rare editions, out-of-print books and magazines.

FLAT will also host a rich cultural programme to reflect on the state of art publishing, on the practices and issues concerning the culture of artist’s books.
The second phase of the Le pagine series of exhibitions curated by Elena Volpato celebrates Dieter Roth, leading figure in the history of the artist’s book, presenting over one hundred of his books and the entire corpus of his manuscript diaries, to document the importance of a work that continues to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration for contemporary artists. FLAT will also produce a scientific publication collecting all of the artist’s books, copy books and diaries.
FLAT Public Program—a multifaceted series of talks, round-table discussions, workshops, performance, music and book launches curated by Francesca Valentini—gathers international artists, designers, curators, professionals and experts from the art and artist publishing world to discuss the relevance of the book as an object, medium and instrument for art, its distribution and circulation. Finally, two important initiatives supported by CRT Foundation for Modern and Contemporary Art: the FLAT Prize – CRT Art Foundation, a recognition for unpublished editorial projects chosen within the proposals of publishers participating to the fair; the series of important acquisitions that will enrich the Giorgio Maffei Fund, dedicated to the great bibliophile and collector of rare books on the arts of the twentieth century established at GAM, Turin’s Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art.
