Since Momentum was founded in 1998, it has established itself as one of the most important biennials for contemporary art in the Nordic region, presenting compelling works of art and outstanding artistic ventures, thus contributing to strengthen the Nordic art field and further to demonstrate that Moss, in Norway, is a city of art. In 2019 Momentum celebrates its tenth edition, signifying its importance as a distinguished biennial of international format.
Dag Aak Sveinar, Director of Punkt Ø Galleri F 15 & MOMENTUM: “Two decades has passed since the first Momentum Biennial was arranged. The opening of the 10th edition 2019 calls for celebrating. We will bring further the great interest and engagement both locally, nationally and internationally, challenge the biennial format and reconsider its vision. We warmly welcome Marti Manen as the curator for the Momentum Biennial 2019. Manen is an exceptional candidate with a compelling combination of curatorial experience, artist collaborations, strong skills and a keen interest in the Nordic way of living.”
Marti Manen: “MOMENTUM 10, gives us the opportunity to look back at the biennial’s history from an emotional point of view. Ten editions of Momentum with amazing situations that can be understood from a present gaze and a future aim for definition. Momentum10 / The Emotional Exhibition will combine new productions with moments from the past, generating a constellation of situations and a series of dialogues around art and its presentation, around feelings and expectations, around temporality and the desire for a future connected to the past and present times.”
