Contemporary Prints Panel in New York

International Fine Print Dealers Association (IFPDA)

March 7, 2006

Why are some of today’s hottest artists making prints ? How do these works relate to their artistic practice? How different are their prints from their unique works? What makes prints attractive to collectors?

Join us for an hour-long discussion on Contemporary Print Printmaking and Collecting

As the premier showcase for new works by today’s leading contemporary artists, The Armory Show 2006 is the perfect setting to explore fresh ideas about why artists are using printmaking to further their creative visions. Noted art critic Nancy Princenthal, Senior Editor at Art in America, will moderate this discussion with artists Carroll Dunham, Trenton Doyle Hancock, and collector Harvey Shipley Miller, trustee of the Judith Rothschild Foundation.

Carroll Dunham has been a prolific printmaker throughout his career while Trenton Doyle Hancock first gained notoriety as the youngest artist ever chosen for a Whitney Biennial in 2000. Like Dunham, his prints constitute an essential part of his oeuvre. Their etchings can currently be seen at The Museum of Modern Art in the exhibition The Compulsive Line: Etching 1900 to Now, in the Prints and Illustrated Books Galleries on the second floor through April 17, 2006.

Join us for this hour-long discussion on Friday, March 10th at 11:00 am before The Armory Show opens to the public at noon. The panel is free and open to the public. Admission to The Armory Show is $20 and can be purchased at the box office following the panel discussion.

Location:

The Panel Discussion will be held in the VIP Collectors Lounge on Pier 92 (52nd Street & 12th Avenue). The Armory Show will take place from March 10-13 on Piers 90 and 92.

Prints can also be found throughout many of the 153 galleries on the main exhibition floor on Piers 90 and 92.
