In March, parallel with TEFAF, the world-renowned art fair in Maastricht, Wim Reiff Gallery exhibits a fine collection of international art in his own gallery, for serious art lovers and professionals. On top of that, a rare Mondriaan will be up for sale, as well as works of Picasso, Kabakov, Courbet and Richter.

Throughout the whole month of March the gallery acts as a ‘parallel universe’ and exhibits works that would not look out of place in a museum. Featured artists are Appel, Balkenhol (5 pieces), Baselitz (3), Beecroft, Constant, Cragg (13), Dumas, Fabre (14), Fôrg (30), Kippenberger, Klaucke, McCollum, Melgaard, Messager, Panamarenko, Rainer, Salvo, Struth, Trockel and Wesselmann. Their fine work will be on display on the ground floor of the gallery. The first floor features the exhibition ‘Masquerade or a tribute to women’ with sixty works of, among others, Jan Carlier, Man Ray and Quik Lin Felton (curated by Frank Hendrickx). All the exhibited works will be up for sale. A large part of Wim Reiff’s own collection will also be shown. The vernissage is on 11th March, 15.00-18.00 h., with food, drinks and music by Sound Kitchen.

The exposition could not be timed more suitably. Every art professional and private art lover will be in Maastricht during TEFAF, which is held from 8-18 March in the MECC congress centre, Maastricht, the Netherlands. “I would like to invite these people to also look beyond TEFAF”, emphasizes Wim Reiff. “As they are already in the city anyway, this is an excellent opportunity to combine their stay with a visit to this unique exhibition. And don’t forget that some of the finest restaurants of Maastricht are located in the Rechtstraat, too.” To be of extra service to TEFAF visitors, the gallery has extended opening hours from 8-18 March, from 10.00 – 23.00 h.

Mondriaan, Picasso, Kabakov, Courbet, Richter

Another interesting event related to the exhibition, which will surely attract professional art dealers to the gallery, is that Wim Reiff will be acting as the broker for a rare Mondriaan painting from the 1920’s. It will be traded via the so-called ‘private art dealing’ system, where an artwork is bought or sold outside of the traditional trade channels, without direct contact between buyer and seller. The expected price of the painting is estimated to be around USD 12,5 million. For that reason, the work itself will not be available to be exhibited in the gallery, as Wim Reiff explains: “That would be too much of a risk. Additionally, the world of private art dealing is very discrete, we only want the work to be seen by serious buyers. Therefore, not even a photograph of the picture will be shown.” In addition, five more paintings are offered: two Picasso’s (from 1945 and 1963), a Kabakov (1991), a Courbet (1860) and a Richter painting (1977). All are oil on canvas paintings. Seriously interested buyers are invited to contact Wim Reiff directly at 00-31-43-3900721 or 00-31-6-50616299, or via e-mail: info@wimreiff.com
