We are pleased to announce a new international contemporary art fair in Los Angeles. Art Los Angeles Contemporary will be produced January 28 – 31, 2010 by new company, Fair Grounds Associates.

The fair will host 50 top galleries ranging from established blue chip to progressive young programs. Participants will hail from the US and abroad, with a strong presence of Los Angeles galleries.

Art Los Angeles Contemporary will be produced at the Pacific Design Center (PDC), positioned in West Hollywood. Owned by Charles Cohen of Cohen Design Centers, who is also a Trustee of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA), the building plays host to some of the most highly regarded design showrooms and events in the world. We are very pleased to have formed an alliance with the PDC, long considered the cornerstone of contemporary design and commerce in Los Angeles. The fair will occupy roughly 50,000 square feet of exhibition space on the building’s 2nd floor with galleries housed in multiple consolidated showrooms.

The alliance offers Art Los Angeles Contemporary access to the PDC’s expansive marketing and press teams and its devoted demographic of design connoisseurs. Fair Grounds Associates will retain our own independent marketing and press teams that will work in conjunction with the PDC, dramatically amplifying awareness of the fair. Expected attendance is set to 10,000 visitors.

In a city made up of many parts, the Pacific Design Center is utterly central. Located in the middle of the affluent West Hollywood neighborhood, the building is surrounded by numerous luxury hotels, boutiques, restaurants, as well as the famous Sunset Strip. In addition, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA) occupies a satellite location, MOCA at the Pacific Design Center, housed in the courtyard of the Design Center’s 14-acre campus.

Fair Grounds Associates has been invited to sit on a City of Los Angeles sponsored committee dedicated to the LA Arts Month initiative slated to take place during January 2010. We share a seat with leading figures from arts institutions across Los Angeles including The LA Opera, The Getty Trust, The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau, MOCA, LACMA, and curator Shamim Momin’s newly formed Los Angeles Nomadic Division (LAND). The goal of the committee is to encourage both visitors and residents of L.A. to see, join, and support local arts institutions and events. The cross promotional marketing channels that this opportunity opens are vast — from advertisements at the Los Angeles Airport, to city sponsored press events, with printed information about our art fair at each of the members institutions and art centers.

Tim Fleming, former ART LA director, is founder of Fair Grounds Associates, an organization that runs and owns Art Los Angeles Contemporary: The International Contemporary Art Fair of L.A..

The application process remains open until October 20, 2009. Please feel free to contact us at info [at] artlosangelesfair.com. Our office telephone is 323.851.7530 and the fair website is http://www.artlosangelesfair.com . Please click here to download the application.
