Workshop on Indexing and Investigation of Artists’ Publications
13–14 November 2009
The aim of this two-day workshop will be to deliberate on the standardization of the registration categories, to work out chief criteria for a comprehensive search mask and thus lay the foundation for later digital networking by way of online finding aids, and to begin thinking about the exchange of data. Within the framework of the workshop, the initial draft of a content-related standard is to be discussed and further developed with representatives of museums, collections, archives, and libraries. Building on existing standards, the participants will work toward a common manual to serve as a set of regulations for the registration of artists’ publications.
Please have a look at the entire concept and program for the workshop on our website http://www.weserburg.de
Artists’ Pub – Artists’ Publications Network and Communication Platform
Starting 13 November at http://www.artists-pub.eu
‘Artists’ Pub’ is an Internet portal for artists’ publications, designed to be a central platform facilitating contact and collaboration throughout Europe among all those engaged in the field of artists’ publications.
The Internet portal is designed to function as a main platform for all activities and events relating to artists’ publications. Alongside an introductory text (with bibliography) on artists’ publications and their European roots, it will collate information about collections and archives within Europe and beyond, while the existing online databases and finding aids of individual institutions will form a research portal. In addition, the Internet platform will contain links to the featured institutions as well as a database facilitating the free-of-charge announcement of events and of new artists’ publications, and it will also feature a newsletter.
Collections, archives and museums, universities and other institutions of higher education, along with publishing houses, galleries, and dealers will not only be able to present their holdings but also to publicize their forthcoming activities.
